Mindful Emotion Coaching
I discovered Mindful Emotion Coaching (MEC) when I was looking for ways to help our family thrive, during a daily storm of ‘meltdowns’.
MEC is a family wellness coaching programme formulated by GP Dr Sarah Temple. It’s evidence-based, neurodivergent-friendly, and adaptable to individual needs.
‘Mindful’
Many people have heard of ‘mindfulness’ but what does it mean?
Being mindful is noticing.
Noticing your own thoughts and feelings, being present in the moment, grounding yourself to allow you to focus on what matters.
There are many mindfulness techniques, engaging your 5 senses and calming your nervous system. Everyone is individual: we will explore some of these techniques together to discover what works for you.
‘Emotion’
Emotions are the colourful feelings that shape how we experience the world every day.
You may be familiar with the movie Inside Out: inspired by psychological research it focuses on five core emotions: joy, sadness, anger, fear, and disgust.
Emotional literacy and regulation are at the heart of Mindful Emotion Coaching. Being able to recognise, name, and process feelings builds scaffolding to enable you to tackle life’s ups and downs.
‘Coaching’
Coaching with Dr. Colette is a collaborative partnership built on mutual respect, without judgement. Combining your lived experience with my learned expertise, we work together to harness your internal resources, enabling you to achieve your personal goals.
Parents and Carers shape a child's world. Emotion-coaching style parenting has been proven to benefit children’s emotional development and buffer them from the effects of adversity.
Throughout our coaching sessions I aim to meet you where you’re at, facilitating you to develop techniques that work for you and your family, now and in the future.
